What is BPA?

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a synthetic chemical compound used in a wide range of consumer products and is classed as a hormone disruptor.

Who is exposed to Bisphenol A?

Everyone. Bisphenol A is found in many everyday products including food cans, plastic water containers and baby bottles. A study in the US found that 95% of people tested had been exposed to BPA.

Why is it a concern?

Bisphenol A is a hormone disruptor. Studies have linked low-dose BPA exposure with such effects as: prostate cancer, type II diabetes, sexual maturation, infertility, obesity. Infants are particularly vulnerable.

Where is it used?

BPA is primarily used to make plastic food and beverage containers, polycarbonate feeding bottles, plastic food wrap and metal cans.

What are alternatives to Bisphenol A?

Plastics such as Polypropylene, Glass or Silicone do not contain Bisphenol A.  Nûby™ offers a wide range of feeding products that are BPA free.  Visit www.nuby-uk.com & www.nuby.com for more details.

Who is most at risk?

Foetuses, infants and children around puberty. Foetuses are especially sensitive groups as their immature detoxification systems make them more vulnerable and they are at a delicate stage of development.
